Anya Hindmarch All Over Stickers Small Bathurst Satchel

Other Brands

anya_hindmarch_all-over-stickers-small-bathurst-satchelOne of my favourite bags from Anya Hindmarch’s S/S15 line-up, the Small Bathurst Satchel comes ‘stickered’ all over as part of the theme of the season, Fixation. Working closely with Charlotte Stockdale of CHAOS FASHION, the bag comes covered with stickers, which Anya says is her idea of ‘taking something beautiful and disrupting it with something personal’.

In other words, it’s a collection that’s crazy-mad and wildly-fun, with the leather bag covered in everything from googly eyes to a sunny-side-up egg. Measuring some 20 cm in height by some 25 cm across at its widest point, the icing on the cake (or in this case, bag) is the handle that’s made up of a black and white bungee cord. Unexpected yes, but oh so fun.

Priced at GBP1395 online via Anya Hindmarch, you could also pick up totes and assorted SLGs that also come covered all over with these stickers. Or you could just pick up individual stickers and personalise your existing bags, be it from Anya Hindmarch, Chanel or dare I say, Hermès.

One more thing before I go, the same bag it seems is also now available via Net-A-Porter, but it’s priced at GBP1595 over there, which makes it GBP200 more expensive. In other words, unless this is a one-time glitch, Net-A-Porter might not be the ‘cheapest’ place online anymore to get our fixations. Thoughts, anyone?

Sportmax Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week

Fashion

Thanks to its clean lines and dynamic cuts, Sportmax has always been capable of enhancing the beauty and femininity of a body of every shape, while it’s fashions are uniquely designed for cosmopolitan and self-confident women. Since 1969, deconstructed tops and flared trench coats have been the house’s hallmark, and we may say Sportmax is one of the best lower-priced lines (with high-quality designs) available in the fashion industry. Furthermore, since the mid-Seventies to the end of the Eighties, Sportmax has developed a special trendsetter role within the Max Mara Group, opening its doors to all those changes that were occurring within the society (and fashion) in those years. Therefore, while its big sisterMax Mara has always had a more elegant appeal, Sportmax has always enjoyed playing with its unconventional free spirit, which is exactly what we see in the latest Sportmax spring/summer 2016 collection.

Sportmax Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

Due to its dynamic and urban nature, Sportmax’s collections show a strong personality, which above all is a reflection of society. Such changes are expressed in the latest collection through an innovative retro-futuristic theme, which mixes elements from the Sixties with deconstructed elements of a not-so-distant future. Combining these two different eras into various complete looks, Sportmax manages to travel back in time, exploring themes of tension between past and future, consequently giving us a taste of want fashion is going to be in the next few years.

At the same time, for this collection, Sportmax took great inspiration from the sea (like Max Mara and Pucci beforehand), taking the point of view of its urban bathers rather than its inhabitants. Not for nothing this collection’s main color is navy blue, here unconventionally combined with yellow and orange, whereas its main purpose is being indeed practical and ready-to-wear. From raincoats to buckle jumpers, every single piece of the line-up is meant to be worn daily, aiming at making you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin thanks to the perky A-line shapes and playful prints.

Graphically speaking, the Sportmax spring 2016 collection has everything you need for your near marine future, and enjoys playing with thin stripe patterns, fishnet prints and oval zip pouches, which directly take inspiration from the early-Sixties American Pop Art movement. From the Pop Art Movement Sportmax has also borrowed recurring elliptical patterns, used to adorn the long see-through white dresses, A-line white dresses and button-down white shirts.

Impeccable designs and tailoring have also been used for mannish button-down shirts as well as for long and fitted maxi dresses, here often revisited as long stretch dungarees. As for its trademarks, namely deconstructed tops and trench-coats, Sportmax has opted for some wide flared short trench-coats and a few oversized t-shirt dresses, adorned with wide buckles in the front.

Sleek fabrics and asymmetrical cuts have been respectively used for wide leg trousers, shirts and long dresses, while side slits and wide belts embellish medium-length skirts and short dresses. Sportmax’s triumph of life and colors has this year reached its peak, and may be seen a signal that fashion, like society, is currently going through a process of major (exciting) changes.

Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week

Fashion

It is still a controversial issue if we should be grateful to Giorgio Armani that many years ago he unexpectedly changed his life trajectory making an abrupt transition from medicine to fashion. After all a personality so energetic and animated as Giorgio Armani could have saved many human lives but instead he would have deprived the world from elegance and exquisiteness, would have impeded our bodies to feel utmost comfort and relaxation and our egos – to experience that so desirable self-assurance and inner strength. While you are pondering on whether to bow down to the iconic Italian designer, Mr. Armani is hotfooting to our springtime wardrobes with his striking and ravishing Emporio Armanispring/summer 2016 collection.

Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

The atmosphere on the runway was somewhat invigorating and exhilarant. There we saw a real powerful cause-and-effect chain. Giorgio Armani made his inexhaustible energy pass through the staggering pieces, which in their turn nestling on alluring models’ bodies electrified them so heavily that the dark-haired and dark-skinned models catwalking were literally radiating super-feminine energy with their tantalizing and mouthwatering eyes.

The fashion titan was the first to tailor and design a feminine blazer and he himself is the one to remind us of it every time, show after show and we are overjoyed to see a myriad of blazers with a myriad of designs and proportions and to rest assured that blazers will never sputter out if under Mr. Armani’s patronage. Once the designer confessed that with the help of blazers he wanted to safeguard women in the man’s world but now he is trying to bring back fragile and graceful women. On the runway show of the Emporio Armani spring/summer 2016 collection we witnessed a palpable attempt to present a woman, who is in business but does not take it too seriously; she is sitting at the meeting at times distracting her attention and thinking how she will dress up tonight to kill her beloved. This is a real woman and this is what the contemporary world needs the most.

The show opened with a lightweight charcoal grey trench with abstract patterns on it paired with cadet grey slouchy pants. It continued with a range of staples of different grey shades. A typical going-to-work satin grey bomber jacket, a satin trench with high neck paired with the same material languid pants were very soon followed by more romantic options by adding a tiny detail – little elegant scarves tied like romantic bows. A couple of floral printed pieces like a grey-blue jacket with pink-black flower patterns on it or densely flower decorated shorts with matching little scarf, as well as a sleeveless top all covered with flowers let alone a flowerlike detailing on it came to enhance the lovey-dovey atmosphere of the show.

We were definitely feeling that it was becoming hotter and hotter, more and more passionate. Cold colors were being gradually alternated by warmer or more vibrant ones. Dirty pink, gray black dresses, shorts and blazers were gently becoming coral pink, tawny, tangerine and persimmon ones and with the progression of shades the catwalk was getting brighter thus conveying a sunny and vivid springtime mood around. One of the tops looked like a super-natural assembly of pink and orange flowers and leaves thanks to the designer’s exclusive ability to perform sophisticated and intricate cutouts.

Bohemian was the finale of the Emporio Armani spring 2016 show when chiffon started supervising. Fluid chiffon multicolored pants, skirts and tunics had really nothing to do next to the boho chic high-low frocks with one-sleeve designs. The closing model with her intriguing ensemble and languid catwalking left everybody dumbfounded and amazed with Mr. Armani’s never-ending aesthetics.
